Emily Pribadi, Jack & Jill. Branding Strategy, 2018.
I’m a communication designer focusing on creating identities and building characters. I am fascinated with people and how I can translate their aspirations into visual identities and personalities. I use visual communication, strategic thinking, and research as analytical tools for exploring ways to breathe life into brands. I based my practice on observing and understanding people by sketching them first and generating portraits that respond to different characters and personalities.
My final project is an extension of my passion for designing brand identities. Jack and Jill is taken from the famous nursery rhyme of the same name. From the verse, I re-interpreted Jack as a Hydraulic Transfer Engineer and Jill as a pail entrepreneur. The project’s childlike element and its playfulness resonates to me as a designer. The brief challenges me to imagine and construct identities beyond the existing boxes, hence interpreting words into visual personalities.
