Kuanlien Chu, Eid Al-adha. Zine: ink on paper, 2018. First edition

I’m a visual communication designer focusing on editorial design and story telling. In my project, Eid al-Adha, I use photography as a way of exploring the experiences of a seventeen-year-old high school student and her family with the aim of raising awareness of Chinese Islam culture in Australia. To many people in Australia, Muslims and Islam are the pronouns of mystery. However, through the visual communication of the experiences of the main character in this project, I have attempted to show how Muslims are not mysterious at all. My project Eid al-Adha is a publication about religious with an additional poster that speaks about Islam culture from a different angle. My practice is situated between publication design and design thinking, which I use to build my understanding of the world.
