Marie Brat Olsen, Bonski! (game) Experience Design, Packaging Design & Branding: Paper-bound box, print stuck to game board, handcrafted clay pieces & printed paper cards and instructions, 2018.

I’m a graphic designer focusing on packaging and visual branding. I use visual communication as a way of exploring the identities of brands and products. My practice intersects communication design and the fine arts, in order to explore design that is aesthetically pleasing as well as creative and intriguing. I see myself as a curious creative, as I am interested in many aspects and ways of designing. I wanted to visualise this through my project “Bonski!” which is a board game that explores packaging design, brand identity, experience design and hand-crafting. Through my project, I wanted to create a fun experience that friends can bond over. I created a logo with hand drawn letters, and a dizzy, drinking character on the K, to clearly communicate what the game is about: fun and friendship. The unusual combination of turquoise, yellow and green help make the game bright and have a playful, inclusive vibe. The dizzy rays in different shades of turquoise resemble a hypnotic spiral, or a circus tent. The game pieces are shaped as beer bottles, which connects to the party theme of the game. “Bonski” was a chance for me to explore my playfulness in a professional way.
