My practice is focusing on brand identity design for a hotel in Indonesia. Having Indonesian as my background, it always fascinates me about the cultures and a lot of tradition that we can show to the other nations. Through my practice, I explored the case studies of an island called Sumba which is well-known of their beautiful landscape and weaving pattern. My aim is to introduce other people from all over the world to discover of this new gem in Indonesia through my design. As I always interested to design a pattern, I decided to design a Sumba pattern and make it into contemporary design. During the process, I explore designing on different mediums, such engraving and laser on wood and designing a 1.5 metre length of fabric. Sumba weaving, which also known as threads of life, each of their pattern always have a meaning and story to tell of why it was made. As my hotel name is Kisah, which means story in Bahasa Indonesia, I want people to have their own story and share about it during their stay in Kisah.
